Who We Are

Welcome to Sacred Kolors, where tradition meets innovation, and creativity blends with sustainability. Established in West Baltimore’s Upton community, Sacres Kolors was born out of the Upton Planning Committee’s (UPC) research body known as the Natural Dye Initiative (NDI).  Sacred Kolors pays tribute to its ancestors who derived a kaleidoscope of natural dye colors.  The growth and transformation of organically grown indigo is the primary focus of Sacred Kolors.  Our natural indigo products are available for the creation of natural and peacefully vibrant hues of Blue.

Our Mission:  At Sacred Kolors, our mission is twofold: to preserve the rich heritage of indigo dyeing techniques while empowering communities and promoting environmental stewardship. We believe that by harnessing the power of indigo, we can create not only vibrant textiles but also meaningful social impact.

The Essence of Indigo

Indigo is more than just a color; it’s a symbol of authenticity, spirituality, and connection to the earth. Derived from the leaves of the indigofera plant, this natural dye has been cherished across diverse cultures for its deep, timeless hue.

Our Approach: At Sacred Kolors, we honor the tradition of indigo dyeing while embracing modern innovation. Our process combines age-old techniques with sustainable practices to produce natural dyes that are both beautiful and eco-friendly.

We are committed to supporting local artisans and communities through fair trade practices and collaborative partnerships.  By locally growing and sourcing indigo from our farmers consortium, we ensure that our meticulous qualitative standards enables us to produce premium natural indigo dye. By sourcing indigo directly from farmers and working closely with skilled craftspeople, we ensure that every piece tells a story of craftsmanship and resilience.

Environmental Responsibility: As stewards of the earth, we prioritize sustainability at every stage of production. From creating natural indigo extracts   to implementing water-saving techniques, we strive to minimize our environmental footprint and promote a greener future.
